	Welcome to Mount Tehama Winery, an independently owned vineyard and winery in Manton, California. Located near Lassen Volcanic National Park at an elevation of 2,660 feet, we grow the finest grapes using organic farming practices. We have released a 2005 Shiraz and have new wines scheduled for release very soon.	We are very proud to announce that Mount Tehama Winery was a winner in the first international Green Wine competition. Wineries from across the US and 11 foreign countries competed for awards in this important organic wine tasting event. See the News page for more details and a preview of our new label.
The secret is in the soil. This region of Northern California has been marked by volcanic activity for many thousands of years. Lassen Volcanic National park is a popular destination for tourists, and volcanic activity is still visible in the area. Mt Lassen itself last erupted - in spectactular fashion - in 1916. The area where Mt Lassen stands today was once dominated by mighty Mt Tehama. Our 2,660 ft. elevation gives us a colder climate, which discourages many pests and other types of problems, but which is desirable in producing a balanced wine grape.
